WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL SITE FOR THE 20TH ANNUAL JEWISH COMMUNITY MARCH MADNESS CHARITABLE POOL! This is the one March Madness pool where you can support educational, humanitarian and social services that enrich and save lives, promote a vibrant worldwide community, and provide for a promising Jewish future, while at the same time have fun and win cash. Over the years we have raised thousands of dollars for worthy causes, and, as always, the overhead expenses for running the pool are donated as well. So please join us (for only $5 per entry), so we can help those in greatest need.

Please send in your $5.00 entry fee(s) as soon as possible, but certainly no later than this Saturday, March 19th. Please send in a check or cash to Zev Kessler, 977 Country Club Dr., Teaneck, NJ 07666. If you wish to pay your entry fee electronically, please e-mail me, and I'll let you know how to arrange for that. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at kesslez@yahoo.com, and I'll get back to you as quickly as possible.

4/4/11: Congratulations to our winners -- 1st Place: Josh Shaw; 2nd Place: Ben Jubas; 3rd Place (based on tie-breaker of 63% correct picks): Howie Blau; 4th Place: Melissa Perl. Well done!!

3/28/11: Dudes, this tournament just got out of hand. An 11 seed, 8th seed, 4 seed and 3 seed in the Final Four. GMAB. Who could have predicted that? Well ESPN reports that exactly 2 out of 5.9 million brackets had the correct Final Four. If you want to know who's going to win our pool, check out the Player Scenarios and Tournament Scenarios reports from the report package options. And one last time, if you haven't sent in your $$, please do so immediately. Our beneficiary agencies are counting on you (check the Player Listing report to see if I've received your money yet). Thanks!!

3/24/11: Ah, it's Thursday, and that means 4 ballgames tonight to decide 4 of the Elite 8 teams. These are the games where the field gets tighter, the pretenders fade away, and pool participants who were way behind the leader suddenly find themselves in contention. By the end of the weekend, they'll be only 8 remaining possible scenarios, and we'll know with each one who will finish in the money. Keep an eye out for the TOURNEMENT SCENARIOS report, which makes its debut either Saturday or Sunday. One last reminder, if you still have an "N" next to the Paid? indicator on your picks, it means we still don't have your entry fee. This is unacceptable, unfair and not nice. Please send in your entry fee(s) immediately. Thanks!!

3/20/11: I'm simply stunned by the Pitt/Butler game. What can you say? The two dumbest plays I've ever witnessed in March Madness history literally occurred back to back at the end of the game. When all they had to do was nothing to win the game, players on both sides decided to take matters into their own hands and snatch defeat out of the hands of victory. Even Georgetown's Fred Brown's pass to the wrong team in the 1982 Championship game or Chris Webber's brain freeze in the 1993 Championship game, were more understandable because they were committed when a play had to be made. Last night's boneheaded plays occurred when plays shouldn’t have been made. Just when you'd thought you'd seen it all..... Now a few words about payment of your pool entry fee(s): DO IT! If I've received your payment, it will be reflected with a 'Y' where it says ‘Paid?’ in your PLAYER PICKS report. Please, please, please, don't make me run after you for your money. Just do the right thing and send it in now. Thanks! P.S.: Some nice person left $10 in my mailbox without any note. If this was you, please identify yourself. Thanks muchly.

3/17/11: Happy St. Patricks Day and welcome to the first day of games in this year's edition of March Madness. That thud you may have heard was Morehead St. dropping Louisville. I was working at my office in Princeton today, and didn't need a TV to know what was transpiring in their game vs Kentucky. The cheers and eventual groans could be heard all over campus. It seems our final total of participants in our 20th anniversary year is 466, a new pool record. Thanks to everyone for your recruitment efforts, and especially Yosef Kessler who earned himself a free bracket. I've been trying to convince you all to use our FB page as a Forum to talk smack with each other, but it appears I'm the only one visiting that page. So once again I encourage you to go to our forum page by using the FORUM link between the HOME and OUR POOL IN THE NEWS links. Finally, if you go to the Tournament Summary report, you'll see that 190 of you picked the Buckeyes to win the championship, 109 picked Kansas, 69 picked Duke and only 34 picked Pitt to go all the way.

A detailed summary on how the scoring for the pool is calculated can be found by clicking on the link for the RULES page.

Good luck and thanks again for making the 2011 Jewish Community March Madness charitable pool the biggest and most successful yet!
